Welcome back soul children!

I hope all is good on your end after the long Bank Holiday weekend? I spent my extended reprieve from ‘The Coal Face’ getting in some well earned rest and regeneration with family and friends. I even managed to squeeze in a short road trip out to the sticks with The Popcorn King, where we hit up a couple of digging spots we’d not visited for some time. Both yielded a handsome grip of 45s, all of which I will endeavour to drop here at our little corner of the World Wide Web at some point in the very near future.

A big thank you to everyone who made it out to The Hook And Sling at the La Havana Bar in Chichester on Saturday. As always your fantastic support makes our monthly night possible, not to mention hugely satisfying as well!

Sunday saw both Hoppin’ John and myself put our hangovers to one side and join forces to pull a new mix together for you all. All the 45s featured here came from our respective play boxes from the previous evening. There are some real golden nuggets included in this one, hopefully you’ll find something that hits the spot.

Finally a quick heads up for this coming weekend. I’ll be joining Jamie Coughlan in London this Saturday 9th May for the return of his monthly Funk and Soul night, Bump & Hustle at The Elbow Room in Shoreditch. This has shaped up to be a great night at a fantastic venue, so make sure you don’t sleep on this one.
