Tony C Presents Stop, Look & Listen (A Guest Mix For The Hook & Sling)
Posted by thehookandsling on May 13th, 2009
Welcome back!
First up a big thanks to Jamie Coughlan for having me back to guest at his Bump & Hustle night at The Elbow Room in Shoreditch on Saturday night. A great turn out once again and I had a highly enjoyable evening spinning records, shooting pool and catching up with several friends that I hadn’t seen for a while. While on the subject, grab your diaries as Saturday 13th June will see Marius Zahl Johnsen joining in the action. If his live sets are anything like the guest mix that he dropped for us HERE then it’s definitely going to worth the visit to East London!
The next night on my busy DJing calender will be the resurgence of Betterdays, a Funk, Soul, Disco and Rare Groove night that I used to co-run in London with three other DJ’s, El Guiri, Disco Fran and Dr No. The night was put on the back burner a year and a half ago but we will all be dusting off our disco shoes and taking over Saturday Night Stereo to bring you a one off (at the moment!) Bank Holiday party at The Lower Ground Bar in West Hampstead, London. I’m really looking forward to this one as it should be plenty of fun seeing all of our old Betterdays regulars. Don’t sleep on this!
It’s been a while since we had a guest contribution round these parts, so it gives me great pleasure to bring back a good friend of mine for a return visit. Tony C first hit me up with a special episode of his ‘Melting Pot’ radio show from the now defunkt Jazz Syndicate Radio station, as a guest mix just over one year ago (You can catch his guest mix HERE. After the station folded we also hosted the final show which you can catch right HERE which unfortunately didn’t get to air on the station.
So sit back and relax because Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s the long awaited return of Tony C!!
Hello and a big thank you to Mr Double Down for allowing me to return to The Hook and Sling with a new mix of recent finds, and a few of my old favorites. I’ve stayed true to the “Melting Pot” tradition with a selection of Jazz, Funk, Soul and a bit of R’n'B.
Hope you enjoy!!!!
Cheers Tony
