Disco Fran Presents Put The Funk In Your Mouth

Welcome back soul children!
I hope the back end of the week finds you all well and good and chomping eagerly at the bit of weekend freedom? I have to admit I’ve been really looking forward to this weekend for sometime now. Not only is it my first week free weekend in what seems like an eternity, but I also hope to cram in a spot of crate digging, as well as heading over to The Mud Club for the return of Sussex By The Sea. For those not in the know this is a cracking Northern Soul, Motown and Ska night that is organised and hosted by several of the local Scooter Clubs. If you’re able to make it down I promise you won’t be disappointed!

So onto business! Of late I’ve secured the services of several new guest mix contributors, for your aural delectation!
Kicking off a brand new round of guest mixes, It gives me great pleasure to introduce Disco Fran AKA The Sunshine Soul Kid, a good friend and DJ partner of mine from London. As I’ve mentioned here previously, along side The Hook & Sling I used to co-run Better Days, a series of Soul parties in and around London, with Disco Fran, El Guiri and Dr. No.
Very recently Better Days came out of hibernation to drop a packed out one off night at The Lower Ground Bar in West Hampstead. It was at that particular party that I broached the possibility of Disco Fran contributing here, and was extremely pleased when he said he would. The mix he sent over pretty much captures the great party vibes Fran drops when he DJ’s.
While we’re on the subject of parties, you can catch Disco Fran, El Guiri, Dr. No and yours truly on Saturday 11th July. We’ll be guest DJ-ing at a very special Bump & Hustle VS Better Days funk and soul Jam with Jamie Coughlan at Bump & Hustle at The Elbow Room in Shoreditch, London. It promises to be another great night so don’t forget to pen this one into your diaries!
So in order to whet your appetite and bridge the gap until then, here’s Disco Fran with his recently constructed ’Put The Funk In Your Mouth’ Mix!
Ladies and Gentlemen give it up for the one and only Disco Fran……
“I also recorded this mix for a friend’s party. I wanted to make something that was funky with a few well-known cuts to keep people dancing. I’m hoping to make more, as this made me start to think of themes of mixes I can do in the future.
Enjoy!
Disco Fran”
