Welcome back!

I hope your weekend was an enjoyable one?

I’ve just about recovered from Saturday which saw the re-launch of our monthly funk and soul night at The Vestry in Chichester, West Sussex. With it being a brand new venue to us, we were a little nervous in the run up, as we went about ironing out all the small problems that went with the restart!

We set up and waited anxiously for the crowd to show and we certainly weren’t disappointed!! The turnout by far and away exceeded our expectations. By the middle of the night the door staff had decided it was a one in one out policy!! The crowd were extremely receptive to the 45s we dropped and I’m already looking forward to the next outing on Saturday 3rd October so we can keep the momentum going!

I’d also like to give a big shout out to Lewis, Ash, Ben and Mike the friendly soundman, as well as all The Bar Staff. Everyone chipped in and helped us make the first night there a huge success. Thank you!

So onto business! As I mentioned in my previous post I have recently had some well earned time away from ‘The Coal Face’. This has given me some extra time to sort through the piles of 45s that I’ve recently acquired and put them together for forthcoming mixes here!

Today’s selection is another veritable mixed bag for you. Pay particular attention to the Bobby Powell 45 which is a great little groover and also The Ambassadors cut which has been a long time want of mine that I’ve just finally got around to scoring!

For those of you in the London area this coming weekend, I’ll be joining Jamie Coughlan as a guest DJ at his ongoing night, Bump & Hustle at The Elbow Room in Shoreditch, East London. Guaranteed good times as always, so don’t sleep on it!
